Curriculum Enrichment
At Coleshill C of E Primary School we believe in the importance of a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. Our extra-curricular activities are designed to engage pupils, enhance their skills, and foster a sense of community. We offer a variety of activities, allowing pupils to explore their interests and develop new talents.
In February 2026, the Department for Education published “Every Child Achieving and Thriving” with the vision to ensure all children enjoy a childhood rich in opportunity – to learn, play and develop as individuals and to become empowered, confident citizens ready to shape our society’s future. Enrichment opportunities schools can provide during and after the school day are an important part of our provision.
Enrichment trips are planned throughout the year for each year group. All children regularly go to our local farm, Southfields, have RE visits to places of worship including mosques, synagogues, gurdwaras as well as our local parish church.
Other recent trips linked to curriculum topics have included Warwick Castle, The Fusilier Museum, Cadbury World, Black Country Living Museum, Think Tank, Selly Manor, Twycross Zoo, Hatton Country World
Enrichment also happens during the school day, through our Forest School provision, wild worship, visitors to school as well as the opportunities to learn outside the classroom.

We encourage all pupils to take part in our extra-curricular activities, as they play a vital role in personal development, social skills, and overall well-being. and offer a wide range of additional experiences for children across school. Musical Instrument Lessons
Keyboard and brass instrument lessons
Under the guidance of a qualified music instructor, pupils focus on technique, rhythm, and musicality. Regular practise sessions help them improve their skills and enhance their overall musicianship. Pupils will have the chance to showcase their progress in school concerts and events.
We are proud of our links with Coleshill Town Brass Band. Mr Fagg, who leads the Beginner and Youth Town Brass Band, comes into school to teach our pupils. Many of his pupils join the Beginner Brass Band and have wonderful opportunities to perform in concerts, winning many accolades as they enter competitions. Many of our former pupils have gone on to win individual awards with the Youth Brass Band, affording them many opportunities and a tremendous sense of achievement.
Residential Trip
Our Year 6 children are invited to go to on a residential trip.
The trip is packed with excitement, challenge, and opportunity as pupils take part in activities designed to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience.
From climbing and abseiling to hill walking and problem‑solving challenges, the children can embrace each experience with enthusiasm and determination as they persevere and overcome fears. We are incredibly proud to see them supporting one another, stepping outside their comfort zones, and demonstrating the school values that lie at the heart of everything we do: respect, perseverance, self-control and kindness.
The residential not only provides wonderful memories but also strengthens friendships, develops independence, and nurtures a sense of achievement. Our pupils return buzzing with pride and with plenty of stories to share! Experiences like this are an important part of helping every child grow, flourish, and believe in themselves.
Sports
Our sports activities promote physical fitness and teamwork, regardless of skill level. Sessions are designed to improve skills, coordination, and sportsmanship in a fun and inclusive environment, encouraging positive active participation, resilience, and cooperation.
Football
After school football with Mr Barnes is a popular club. Mr Barnes has had great success with both girls and boys playing football. We recently won a trophy following the success of our Girls Football Team.
After School Competitions
Mr Barnes also champions our pupils by entering many competitions in different sporting disciplines.
Dance and performing arts
Dazzlers come into school three times a week to run different dance sessions. Our pupils go on to have opportunities to perform in dance shows. One of our former pupils with a passion for performance, was keen to host a ‘Coleshill’s Got Talent’ show. Niki, the dance teacher, supported him and we had a wonderful evening celebrating the talents of our pupils.
Swimming
Children in Year 5 take part in a block of 10 swimming lessons at Laura’s Swim Academy in Coleshill to ensure they meet expectations that by the end of KS2 they can achieve the following core outcomes:
Perform self-rescue: Execute safe self-rescue skills in different water-based situations.
Swim 25 metres: Swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres.
Use a range of strokes: Effectively use multiple strokes, such as front crawl, backstroke, and breaststroke.
PTA events
From end of term discos and breakfast with Santa, the PTA work all year round to ensure children have some wonderful memories.

Mental health and wellbeing
Farm trips
Eco Warriors, Digital Leaders and some Year 5 pupils took advantage of an opportunity to visit a different farm: Woodfield Farm in Pershore. The aim of the visit was to create new links with different learning environments, compare the farm to their experiences of Southfields and learn digital photography skills so they could take photos to be entered into a World Food Photography competition supported by Jamie Oliver and 20Degrees.
Firstly, we settled into the meeting room where Terry and John, (Red Star Growers), Faye (LEAFEd), Letti (World Photography) and Milly (20Degrees) were extremely impressed with our pupils’ politeness, enthusiasm and knowledge of plant recognition. Pupils offered super ideas and asked excellent, relevant questions. The pupils also watch and listened to Jamie Oliver’s personal message to them!
Once we were secure with our task, the pupils headed across the yard to where fresh produce is delivered and unloaded directly from the fields, cleaned, packed and quality controlled. Our children focused on photographing trays of plug plants and harvested TenderStem (a high-quality hybrid of broccoli). Year 5 and 6 pupils became very creative in how they set up and took the photos to create interesting viewpoints and some funny ones too! Terry and John explained about the different careers the farm provide and pupils listened and questioned with great interest.
After lunch, we hopped onto the coach and travelled to a field near Worcester which was alongside the River Severn (the longest river in Great Britain!) In this field, we could see workers picking the TenderStem which created interesting conversation and questions yet again. Our pupils had the chance to ‘get creative’ again: they could run anywhere they liked in this field, take photos of the rows of TenderStem plants and enjoy the outdoors.
We now have wonderful memories, packets of TenderStem kindly donated to the pupils and an array of creative photographs to enter into the World Photography Junior category. Well done Green School pupils – you’ve been fantastic yet again!
