SEN

At Coleshill Church of England Primary School, we recognise that every child is a unique individual with their own strengths, needs and aspirations. We are committed to providing a happy, caring, safe and stimulating environment where all pupils feel valued and where high expectations are held for every learner. Our provision is grounded in our theologically rooted Christian vision for a vibrant, connected and inclusive school where every child knows what it is to belong and to be loved. We ensure that all pupils can access a broad and balanced curriculum through adaptive teaching, targeted support and strong partnerships with families and external agencies.

We recognise that navigating SEND information can feel overwhelming, so we provide clear guidance, supportive communication and links to trusted local services. If you have any questions, please contact our SENCo or a member of our pastoral and leadership team.

Vibrant

We provide a vibrant SEND offer that embraces creativity, curiosity and meaningful learning experiences. Through adaptive teaching, engaging interventions and rich curriculum opportunities—including emotional literacy, outdoor learning and hands‑on experiences—pupils grow in confidence and enjoyment, enabling them to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.

Rooted

Our SEND provision is rooted in our Christian vision, affirming the God‑given dignity, worth and potential of every child. We nurture joy, resilience and belonging so all pupils feel safe, known and loved. Our practice draws on the theological themes of Creation, Reconciliation and Love, guiding us to respond with compassion, dignity and high aspiration for every learner

Connected

Our approach is intentionally connected: we work closely with pupils, families, staff and a wide network of specialist agencies to ensure joined‑up support. The Graduated Approach, consistent communication, strong pastoral links and partnerships with services such as SENDIAS, CAMHS/RISE and local authority teams ensure that children experience seamless, coordinated provision across home, school and community.

Inclusive

Coleshill is proudly inclusive. Every child can access high‑quality teaching, thoughtful adaptations and a curriculum designed to remove barriers. Our ethos promotes dignity, respect and equity, ensuring pupils with SEND participate fully in school life—from enrichment and trips to leadership roles and whole‑school events. We uphold the Equality Act 2010, championing reasonable adjustments and celebrating each child’s progress and unique strengths.

9 Types of Adaptations

At Coleshill, we believe every child should be able to access the curriculum successfully. Teachers use a range of adaptations so that learning is achievable, meaningful and ambitious for all pupils. These adaptations do not lower expectations—they simply remove barriers.

Adaptations in Each Subject

At Coleshill C of E Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child can access every subject. Across all curriculum areas, teachers plan purposeful adaptations so that learning is achievable, meaningful and ambitious for all pupils, including those with SEND. These adaptations support children in the four broad areas of need—Cognition & Learning, Communication & Interaction, Physical & Sensory, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health—and sit alongside our school‑wide Nine Universal Adaptations that help remove barriers and promote belonging.

Our approach means pupils can take part fully in lessons, fieldwork, performances, reading, practical tasks, problem‑solving, and creative experiences. Whether through visual supports, scaffolded tasks, adapted equipment, multi‑sensory learning, chunked instructions, predictable routines or emotional regulation strategies, our curriculum is designed to ensure that every child succeeds, participates with confidence and feels valued.
