Justice and responsibility
At Coleshill Church of England Primary School, our theologically rooted Christian vision shapes a vibrant, connected and inclusive culture, where kindness actively shapes choices, interactions and relationships. Rooted in the teachings of Jesus, this vision nurtures belonging, joy and resilience, enabling every child and adult to flourish as a unique individual, knowing what it is to belong and to be loved. A distinctive feature of our approach to spiritual development is our explicit attention to the “ows, wows and nows of life”, embedded across collective worship, the curriculum and pastoral practice. Through reflection and dialogue, pupils are supported to explore times of challenge, loss and injustice (ows), moments of awe, wonder and gratitude (wows), and the everyday choices and experiences that shape their lives (nows). This encourages pupils to develop empathy, integrity and responsibility, to value dignity and respect, and to understand the impact of their actions on others. As a result, relationships are built on trust, forgiveness, reconciliation and shared Christian values, creating a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive.
Our Christian vision inspires a strong culture of justice and courageous advocacy, empowering pupils to make ethical choices and to speak out against injustice, both locally and globally. At Coleshill, pupils actively live out their faith through practical action, including raising money for the Poppy Appeal, collecting food for local food banks, and celebrating NSPCC Number Day, where learning is combined with fundraising and awareness of children’s rights and protection. Through curriculum enrichment, worship, and meaningful partnerships with local churches, charities and community organisations, pupils learn to be agents of change, advocating for those whose voices are often unheard. These reciprocal and life‑enhancing partnerships, alongside global links, offer real‑world opportunities for pupils to demonstrate compassion, generosity and service.

We would specifically like to spotlight these children who have been given ‘Justice Champion’ Accolades due to their own fundraising or charitable efforts.
Poppy
We are incredibly proud of Poppy, who has taken the inspiring initiative to raise money for charity. Motivated by a desire to make a positive difference, she has chosen to support Birmingham Children’s hospital a cause close to her family’s heart. Through creative fundraising efforts and a strong sense of community spirit, Poppy is showing how one person’s dedication can have a meaningful impact. We applaud her generosity, determination, and commitment to helping others, and know how tired she must have been at the end! Well done, Poppy.
Ben
After learning about Christian Aid during an RE lesson through the Understanding Christianity curriculum, Ben was inspired to take action. Moved by what he had learned, he went home and thoughtfully prepared a shoebox for the Shoebox Appeal. His kindness and initiative are a wonderful example of how learning can lead to meaningful acts of generosity. Well done, Ben!
The Big Toddle
Kindness Challenge
As part of the NSPCC Kindness Challenge, our Worship Council took the lead in advertising and campaigning across the school. They created eye-catching posters to promote the initiative and helped collect donations from pupils and families. Children were encouraged to carry out acts of kindness at home and school and were sponsored by family and friends, raising an incredible total of over £240 for the NSPCC. In addition to fundraising, the Worship Council incorporated the challenge into our ‘Wild Worship’ sessions by designing kindness stones in the outdoor prayer space. These beautifully decorated stones, each carrying a message of hope or encouragement, were then delivered around our local community to spread kindness beyond the school gates and make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Courageous Advocacy: Thank you!
Thank you to our wonderful school community who have been supporting the fundraising opportunities this term.
We have received a letter of thanks from North Solihull Foodbank to recognise our recent donation. The total amount of food that you brought in weighed 118.55kg.
The amount you raised for Children In Need was £359.46.
The NSPCC kindness challenge raised £234.56.
Your donations to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal raised £483.06.
Salvation Army Toy Appeal
Our Year 3 children have been busy donating pre-loved toys, teddies, games and more to the Salvation Army Toy Appeal. These thoughtful donations will be given to children at Christmas who might otherwise not receive a gift on Christmas Day. As always your generosity is greatly appreciated and your efforts make a real difference to people who need it, in our own community and beyond – thankyou!
Star Foundation
At Coleshill Church of England Primary School, our partnership with the Star Foundation charity and the provision of an on‑site clothing bank are clear examples of courageous advocacy rooted in our Christian vision. Inspired by Jesus’ teaching to love our neighbour, this work responds directly to local need by providing practical, dignified support to families experiencing hardship.
Pupils learn that advocacy involves both speaking out and taking action. Through worship and the curriculum, they explore issues of fairness, dignity and justice and understand why supporting others matters. By addressing real‑life “ows” within our community and removing barriers to access, the school demonstrates a proactive commitment to justice, enabling pupils to see how faith is lived out through kindness, service and compassion. This work strengthens community relationships and empowers pupils to grow as thoughtful, responsible citizens who can make a difference.
Malawi Partnership
Our partnership with our school in Malawi is a meaningful expression of our Christian vision of love, hope, and belonging, and our commitment to justice and action in the wider world.
We have sent and received videos from Mvumo School in Malawi.
Recently, our community came together to support a Malawi Fundraising Cake Sale, raising over £280. These funds will directly support the recycling and repairing of desks for our partner school, helping to improve the learning environment for the children and ensure they have better access to education.
We also had an afternoon without any desks to understand this and be compassionate to the children in our partner school.
This initiative reflects how our pupils actively engage with issues of injustice and inequality, developing an understanding of the challenges faced by others around the world. Through this work, they are encouraged not only to recognise injustice but also to respond with compassion, courage, and practical action.

Our Malawi partnership continues to strengthen our global understanding, deepen our sense of responsibility, and inspire our whole school community to live out our vision in tangible and impactful ways.
