Warwickshire Safe & Active Schools
At Coleshill C of E Primary School and Nursery, we are proud to participate in Warwickshire County Council’s Safe & Active Schools Programme, an initiative designed to help children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to travel safely and actively. The programme promotes road safety education alongside opportunities for walking.
Throughout the year, our pupils take part in a range of activities that encourage safe road use, active travel and positive choices when travelling to and from school. These experiences help children become responsible road users while also supporting our wider commitment to health, wellbeing and sustainability.
We are incredibly proud to announce that Coleshill C of E Primary School has been awarded the Platinum Award for Road Safety Education, the highest level of recognition available through Warwickshire’s Road Safety Education programme.
This prestigious award celebrates our whole-school commitment to promoting safe, responsible and active travel. It reflects the hard work of our pupils, staff and families in developing an excellent understanding of road safety and putting that knowledge into practice both in and beyond the school community.
A group of our pupils had the privilege of attending the special awards ceremony in Warwick, where they proudly represented our school and accepted the award on behalf of everyone at Coleshill. The children were excellent ambassadors, demonstrating the confidence, maturity and sense of responsibility that make us so proud.
Road safety education is an important part of helping children become independent and responsible citizens. Throughout the year, pupils take part in a range of learning opportunities, including pedestrian safety, cycling awareness, safe travel choices and understanding how to keep themselves and others safe when travelling. This programme deepens and enriches our PSHE curriculum, supporting children to develop a greater appreciation of the natural world while understanding their responsibility to care for the environment. It is a wonderful example of The Green School ethos in action.
Achieving Platinum status is a significant accomplishment and recognises the sustained efforts of our entire school community. We would like to thank our dedicated staff, supportive families and, most importantly, our children for embracing the importance of road safety and helping us achieve this outstanding award.
This achievement reflects the enthusiasm of our pupils, the support of our families and the dedication of staff in promoting road safety and active lifestyles across our school community. The award celebrates our commitment to creating a culture where children can travel safely, confidently and actively.
We would like to thank everyone who has supported our Safe & Active Schools journey and look forward to continuing to develop opportunities that help our children stay safe, healthy and active.
